Took three books with me to Paris, so I know what I’m talking about. Ended up leaving the other two in the hotel room, because this was by far the best. The restaurant recommendations guided me to fabulous places where I didn't see another tourist. (NOT the case when I used the Rick STteves book---those were ALL tourists). Sightseeing information gave context about the culture and history of Paris that really made what I was seeing come alive. I particularly appreciated the sections about the Louvre, because they helped me avoid the worst of the crowds (which I saw on my way out of the museum). And the material about The Kiss by Rodin was sooo interesting. This is the only guide I had that pointed out the sculpture was actually created for the artists gates of hell composition, which made the subject far less romantic but much more interesting. I appreciated that the hotels in the book were rated for value and location, and that the author didn’t assume I have money to burn. She says straight out when something is a splurge and when it’s a value (lots of good values in the book).The pull out map came in quite handy and the book was light enough to carry. A great buy! It was very helpful with short and precise descriptions and useful, up to date information. I brought it back from Paris even though it was heavy to save it for future trips.
