I liked that even though the idea of packing up and getting into your van seems great, the author reminds the readers of the things that will occur on the road. It helps them create a checklist and guide on okay before you even jump first feet here is what you should be thinking about. I also appreciated the organized sections and how the book has a resource guide. Kristine gives realistic advice without taking away hope for someone who wants to live on the road, and that’s not always easy. Also, I think it was so important that she touched on mental health and how while yes it’s going to be a huge adjustment so is buying a house, or renting an apartment and there are going to be growing pains. Like the book mentions we tend to romanticize the notion of being free and going where the wind takes us but it notes important things like health insurance (which I honestly didn’t even think about). It hits points that people may overlook or not even know to consider which is why I think people are really going to gravitate towards reading this as it covers so much information. A very interesting and differentiated perspective on living in tiny houses and vans that requires a very open mind, a big heart, an penchant for experimentation, simplicity, and a desire to experience and live life to the fullest as though you have never lived life before. The author decided to adopt van living as a leap of faith and then transitioned to a tiny house during the pandemic. This helped her learn terrific life-time lessons along the way which have been captured beautifully in the book. Van living and tiny houses is not meant for everyone, but what this book does is open our minds and hearts to the idea of living on the road, traveling wherever the wind blows and shedding the mundane and repetitive lifestyle we are accustomed to. The book helps you prepare for the untold and unknown reality and challenges of life. Transitioning to a tiny house is a way of leading an uncluttered life and experiencing the joys of living a complete and holistic inward life without too many material possessions and gaiety.
